The starting point for this picture was provided by a very nice stamp block from the Birds series issued in 1980 and featuring two great egrets (Egretta alba).

I have received a great number of this stamp from my collector friends as they were unable to include them into any collection because of poor storage so they gave them to me eventually. It was the polychrome character of the stamp what caught me. At first, I started to use the scissors wanting to get the yellow parts out of the stamps. When I got the various shapes covered my table. So I started to paint at first the Sun standing for the fire followed by the earth and the water. I have already signed the picture when I realized, something was missing; and it was the air.
