"In Flanders fields Fhe poppies blow"

stamp-art (18).jpg

There are a number of wars going on in our days, people, both civics and army men are dying and a huge amount of money is being spent on military expenses. Decision makers do not learn from their mistakes, they send people to butcheries, they ravage houses, schools, hospitals, there is no mercy in their heart. I would like to ask them whether they know the wonderful poem written in the time of the Great War? It was written by a Canadian volunteer John McCrae after the funeral of a friend fallen in a battle in Flanders in 1915 (In Flanders Field).

In Flanders fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

The poem could have been written even nowadays although I do not know whether poppies really grow on the place of buildings torn down. I, nevertheless, painted the pictures to commemorate those fallen using stamps, crosses and also skylarks.
