The nine muses

This is the first piece made in 2025. The history of its creation run son different threads. My mother used to read earlier much but she started to complain about her glasses so we presented her new ones for Christmas. I, therefore looked also for her for a book with many pictures and less text. I found her a nice book titled Hungarian Folk Art issued by the Corvina Publishing House in 1975. I joined her in turning over the pages of this book as I do like very much folk art as literally grew up surrounded by folk art. Thus, I discovered in the book a man shaped, stag-horned ornament and I used it at once for my new picture. The other thread was stamp-sorting. I was sorting a bunch of stamps issued in Spain which I used earlier to make my picture titled Somewhere in Hungary. All nine figure was made of different colours alluding to the fact that we people are also different. And this is ok in fact as what would we say if all of us would be uniformed? How dull such a life would have been?
This time I turned to my Facebook friends for help in giving title to the new picture. I was wandering what this picture was saying to them. I was lucky as twenty-four friends joined me in this activity. They suggested love, togetherness, friendship, dancing, music among others. As a matter of fact, these words were in my mind too but I chose nevertheless another solution. This suggestion, The nine muses, was received from Beata Buczi. She wrote that it was the muses’ concern to relieve people’s problem with music, dance and poems. If I can also offer some relief, it was worth to do my work!
