Like an embroidery…

3.jpg

The title of the picture was given by my husband when he looked at the ready-made piece. In fact he is may partner in art making as well. When I started tis picture I did not know what the title would be, my aim was only to make a harmonic piece by using the stamps given.

The initial point was a foreign flower series to which I picked stamps of four colours from the Hungarian folk art series. When I was ready with the thirty circles, I had to make the background only! This is always a hard task. I did not want to have white but what to choose? I found the stamps I had received from our collector friend Csaba Sutoczki. Among these I found bundles (100 pieces of the same stamps) of stamps from the series commemorating the 900th anniversary of the death of our first king St. Steven issued in the year of 1938. I picked a stamp with face value 10 filler (1/100 forint) of red colour and finally I used 240 pieces of this stamp. I mention this fact as an interesting as many visitors on my exhibitions ask me how many stamps were used for making the picture. The blue flowers were cut off from an embodied cover cloth.
