Tulips remembering to my mother

2.jpg

I received a piece of embroidery from my mother many years ago figuring the letters of the ABC made when she was very young. I made use of this piece now to make my little family-tree including herself (Vilma), me, her daughter (Judit) and her grandchildren (David, Zsofi and Balazs). I was thinking much of how to shape the letters and finally I decided to feature a tulip. I had not realized it before that the colour all letters shown on the 80 – 90 years old embroidery was red except of two. These two letters, the “B” and “D” were green and exactly these two letters stood for the names of my two sons. What a coincidence! The stamps surrounding the letters on the picture were issued by the Hungarian Royal Post prior to 1918. I painted the other three tulips by using French stamps. The background is white refracted by white handmade flowers also made by my mother Vilma Gombos.
