Postcard with Embroidery

stamp-art (11).jpg

It started again with sorting of stamps. I new these stamps already, the series Hungarian churches designed by Sandor Legrady. These stamps figure the crown of the first Hungarian king, st. Steven. I had so great number of them and their many colours were so nice that I was totally seduced to make a picture with using them.  I chose nine colours out f he available ones and set up a rule along which the colours follow each other on the board. As these stamps were used ones it was possible to read the name of the place and the year where and when they were stamped. Just some examples: 1940, 1941, 0942 and Budapest, Nyirkarasz, Vereb, Gyongyos, Debreczen, Nagyvarad (now Oradea), Kolozsvar (now Cluj), Kiskunhalas, Hajdunanas…  While sorting I found also an interesting stamp the central motive of which were three tulips. This gave me the idea to ornate my postcard with a flower motive as the final step.
