Remembering the Summer

A new endeavour, another picture. In my first period I used solely stamps to make pictures but later the range of materials broadened: photos, play-cards, magician’s stick, paintbrush to illustrate the life of two married artists, piece of feather of a peacock, key, chess piece and embroideries made with various techniques. The boats featured on this picture were made with a special origami technique but of course of stamps. I chose a sport series issued in Poland to make these boats.
A family holiday was a dream only in my childhood. I got the sight of the Hungarian sea, lake Balaton first only when I was thirteen. The way here lead through Szentes. There was the 2nd National Contest in this small city in the Spring of 1974 for singing children and our head teacher Gabor Erdelyi was keen to take us there. We achieved a very good result on the contest so we got the possibility to travel to the famous children’s city on the Balaton, Zanka. This was my first encounter with the lake of Balaton, this was the first time when I saw sailboats. As a grown up I had more opportunities to go there, the first work place had a holiday resort as a matter of fact in Zanka. So, when I see a sailboat these old recollections come up in myself. We spent some nice days again on the shores of Balaton and when I saw the sailboats again, I got the idea of making this picture. The idea came quickly but to make the picture took muck longer time. For the start I had to learn the origami technique. When I was gluing the waving Balaton I went suddenly out of the stamps used. I worked much also on painting the sky. The ballon with children was not part of my original idea, nevertheless they were the easiest to make
