It was in December 2023 when the story of my exhibition held in Szolnok started. We participated in a very good concert in the Dom of Szeged. In the intermission we started to talk to a lady sitting in the same row. It turned out quickly that there were many things common in what we like such as music, aeronautics and also stamps. Our husbands joined us and Karoly Lovas suggested almost at once to organize an exhibition of my pictures in their town Szolnok.

It was not only a suggestion but he acted as well so he made possible to open this nice exhibition on April 11 in the exhibition hall of the Verseghy Ferenc Library in Szolnok. You can view several photos made during the opening ceremony:

The day of the opening was also the day of the Hungarian poetry. This fact and also an earlier exhibition held in Luton, UK gave us the idea to set up a reading corner in the exhibition hall by using my picture Petőfi in Love. (Petőfi is a famous Hungarian poet). We made a copy also of this picture which has also hung on the wall and we asked the visitors to write citations on it. To make their job easier we get some Petőfi volumes on a table with the help of Krisztina Vona-Gődér, one of the librarians.

We would like to express our gratitude to the librarians and also to Karoly Lovas. The exhibition was opened by Sara Hegmanne Nemes, deputy president of the Board of Directors of the Hungarian Post. We were already familiar to each other as she had opened another of mine exhibitions earlier which was organized with the support of the Hungarian Post with the title of Together with Christ – in Hungary during the Eucharistic Congress in Budapest.

I have also to mention that we met a wonderful intellectual workshop in the library which is able to offer a matterful escape for every ages. I was aware thus that my picture Petőfi in Love will be much appreciated in this library so I endowed the picture to them.

And now some words about the new pictures:

I started to work on my picture It is Snowing when my mother had already been taken to the hospital after a wrong step made. She was born in December 1925 when, according to her words, it was cold and it was snowing. The snowfall on the picture thus symbolizes the

beginning of her life and the cross the end of it.

The following picture also reminds me of my mother. She liked flowers very much. It was me who planted the flowers in the garden but it was she who hoed them, who took care of them. When she was already unable to do this work, she sat down in the garden and admired the flowers.

I made the following picture in the year of 2023 for my exhibition “Stamp!” held in the city of Pecs. The picture is a Csontvary paraphrase. To lead my second exhibition held in Pecs I wanted to make a picture featuring Picasso admiring a Csontvary canvas. . It was not easy at all to find out which pictures could have Picasso seen. Gabor Gerloczy came for our help. He could listen to uncle Gida’s tales about the painter in his childhood and could see the pictures in his flat. He sent me the list out of which I chose the „Pilgrimage to the Cedars in Lebanon”. He sent an authentic photo of the picture to help me as well. Surfing the web, I found also the garden where Csontvary found the tree which he painted. This is the so-called Lamartine tree called today to be the dead Christ’s tree which in the sixties got to be wizened. But how does Picasso get here? There are only a few people of the knowledge that he visited a Csontvary exhibition held at the Hungarian Embassy in Paris after the war. When coming Picasso requested to be left alone with the pictures and after leaving the room he told: “I did not realize there was another great painter in this century aside from myself.”

I present this picture here because of the fact that it will be the leading piece of my next exhibition to be opened on May 30 in Fehervarcsurgo. My exhibition will form a part of the 21st European Ornamental Plant and Art of Garden exhibition so the reason to feature this picture here is of its central theme, the cedar. All my pictures to be presented here do have a link to the flora or the fauna. Although the garden exhibition will be a week-end event my exhibition can be visited for two weeks. We invite everyone to visit the very nive Karolyi Castle and the park surrounding it.
