I presented in my previous newsletter my picture made upon the play Puppet Master, while now I would like to talk about my picture titled Frida Kahlo’s Life. Some weeks ago we went to the Eiffel Art Studios of the Budapest Opera to see the ballet presented by the Eva Duda Dance Company about Frida Kahlo as the painter’s life inspired her as well. My picture was made in 2011 after reading a book about her and seeing an exhibition.
The Eva Duda Group presented their ballet to commemorate Frida Kahlo’ 115th birthday.

While having an interesting discussion with Eva Duda after the show my daughter Zsofi posed for a photo with the principals of the ballet.

I have said several times that we are alps opera fans not only ballet lovers. One of our favourites is Piccini. My picture Ghosts of Turandot was being made for a year, more exactly this was the timeframe while I was thinking in my mind how to formulate my thoughts. The other interesting piece to say in relation of this picture is that it was only half ready when a colleague of mine get sight of it and bought it once.
Puccini places his other famous opera Tosca to the Castle Sant’Angelo in Rome. When we were in the city in 2020, we visited the Castle as well and saw the statue of archangel St Michael in the spot. The most memorable moment of this trip nevertheless was not this visit but our meeting with Pope Francis.
In 2021 we were again in Rome, this time to join my exhibition in the Palace Falconieri. My picture titled Hope was made for this occasion. The picture features the parc arounf Castel Sant’Angelo, one can see the pine trees and, in the middle, the famous statue from the top of the Castle. St Michael descends to us to fight the evil just like he did in 590 during the plague epidemic. On my picture like atop the Castle the archangel puts his sword back into its socket as a sign of the end of the epicemic.
On the next photo you can see HE Eduard Habsburg Hungary’s Ambassador to the Holy See as he was to open the virtual exhibition in Roma. Fortunately, enough after the repression of the epidemics the exhibition was open for in person visits as well.
We were unable to present this picture more. It disappeared; it was lost. We commissioned UPS to take it from London to Ireland but it has never arrived, the company could not saíy anything and they did not pay even any kind of compensation for it.
And finally I would like to show you my picture finished several days ago, a mandala, inspired by history. You can see on the a number of events of our history presented with stamps issued by the Hungarian Post. It was my daughter Zsofi who endeared me with mandalas as it is one of her favourite occupations to make them.
The picture A Mandala Inspired by History will first be exhibited in the Academy House in Debrecen on my exhibition to be opened on October 1 and will be opened for fous weeks thereafter. We hope many of you can join us on the opening event.
